• It is vital that the United State of America enforce our own national borders
• The United States of America (or any other nation) cannot be a sovereign nation without establishing limits on who can enter and live within its borders!
• This is a national security issue
• Complete building concrete and electronic border fences along our northern and southern borders
• Expand border patrol and border enforcement funding
• Stop cite and release programs
• We have the technology – we have the popular will, what we lack is the political will!!
• The United States is richer for its immigrant tradition. We should continue to encourage legal and orderly immigration.
• Encourage highly skilled professional foreign students to stay in US by granting them a green card immediately after completing a Ph.D. in an American University
• Address firmly, fairly and finally the status of the estimated 11 or 12 million illegal immigrants in the US today
• In the 1 st Quarter of 2009 US Congress must enact a tiered approach to legalization or repatriation of illegal aliens based on the length of their continuous residence in US as of 12/31/2008 as well as any criminal history.
• Affidavit of residence must be fully documented by wage receipts etc.
• Aliens who meet legalization requirements can remain in the US.
• Includes a thorough background and criminal investigation
• Requires payment of significant fine plus back payment of all taxes and social security
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Performance of some form of community service
• Does not confer an automatic or expedited path to citizenship
• Restrict Illegal immigrants repatriated under reform legislation from applying for legal entry into the US for number of years equal to the years in US illegally
• Permanently end the incentives for illegal immigration –
• Create a guest worker program that is exactly that: a guest worker program where entry and exit are both monitored and tracked
• Any subsequent application for permission to remain in the US indefinitely must be initiated from the country of origin.
• No exception for marriage to a US citizen while a guest worker
• Encourage cross-border economic development to create good jobs in the US that are partnered with good jobs in Canada and Mexico thru reformingand strengthening NAFTA.
• Impose currency restrictions to reduce the flow of US wages into foreign economies
• Strengthen the criminal sanctions against employers who knowingly employee illegal aliens
• Enforce the existing criminal penalties for document forgers.
• Pass legislation to clarify the intent of the 14-th amendment to the US Constitution. US citizenship should apply to babies born in US only if their parents are US citizens or legal alien residents of US.
